Now that the dog days of summer are behind us its very exciting times looking forward to another great fall season here in the Lowcountry of Beaufort, SC! September is always one of our favorite months to fish mostly because of the early signs of fall and of course great fishing that comes with it. During the first few weeks our guides were mostly still in a summer time patterns fishing early morning and late evening tides to not only stay out of the heat but also to put you in the best fishing of the day. We saw great numbers of redfish tailing during the flood tides and also plenty of schools swimming the shallows during low tides when sight fishing. Whether fly or light tackle, the fishing was great! Lots of other species were mixed in the bag included Trout, Flounder, Jacks, Lady Fish, Blue Fish, and a few sharks as well.

Of course during the beginning of hurricane season we saw a small impact of wind and rain from hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. Beaufort experienced very little impact from Harvey and a little flooding through out the town from Irma because of the high tides, and storm surge. With our unique ecosystem and strong tides, the fishing was back to normal just a few days after the winds laid down. We started to see cooler mornings and a small drop of water temperature which was great and really had the fish tailing aggressive during the flood tides. With that small drop in water temp and cooler mornings we started running 8 hour trips again and will keep doing so through out the fall.

We are seeing a cool 68-70 degree air temp in the morning and low to mid 80's in the afternoons. The spartina grass is starting to show a slight tint of brown and Monarch Butterflies are flying. Fall is here and some of the best fishing of the year is happening from now until the end of December!
