Cobia fishing and too much wind has been the cobia
season so far. It also seemed that they showed up a little late in
good numbers, but they are here now and performing well. There is
also a good size range of fish from little peanuts to 70+ pounds.
I heard of fish caught on all types of baits, such as threadfin, eels,
squid, and whiting when anchored up. They have been hot and cold to
take while sight casting but have been willing to take plenty of flies,
with Puglisi patterns working the best. So get out there and make
sure you catch some of these guys before the season slips away.
Redfish are pretty split off now and seem to be
feeding well. For the fly I still like the low tide or the rise and
for conventional tackle with bait the dropping tide seems to work
the best with mud minnows. Trout have been pretty good as well with
the fish on average being a little larger.
Let us know when you are ready to get out on the
water.
